Research. Engage. Lead.
What We Do

The Global Collaboration on Sorghum and Millet (GCSM) focuses on supporting our partner countries to drive resiliency through research, engagement and leadership.
The GCSM management team works closely with in-country teams in each focus country to maximize resources and expand their capacity to manage research and innovation delivery on short-, mid-, and long-term timelines.
GCSM’s global networks have key capacities for strategic short- and long-term research needs, technology transfer and capacity strengthening that support sorghum and pearl millet value-chain growth.
The GCSM invests in long-term sustainable local capacity development through graduate student training/mentoring, country-led research prioritization, strengthening of existing National Agriculture Research Systems, local farmers/farmer cooperatives and private sector networks across the entire value chain.
We develop innovative solutions driven by producer-identified needs in partnership with global industry experts sharing knowledge and resources to drive long-term sustainability for sorghum and millet.
We maximize information and technology transfer through value-chain development and strengthen capacity for local producers and business owners, sharing results to enhance country- and regional-level impact.
We empower leaders and enhance a hub of knowledge experts to accelerate value-chain growth and stability for two climate-smart crops critical to food security in underserved communities in difficult agroecological production zones around the globe.
