Sorghum Food Products at Hawassa University

SMIL Principal Investigator Dr. Joseph Awika visited Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) director, Dr. Alemu Tirfessa and research teams in Ethiopia to showcase sorghum-based products and technologies. The event had Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) working on local food production (Baltinas) making foods using #sorghum as an ingredient for potential future users. Azi Shalom Cookies, Almi SA (Almi Foods), Guts Agro Industry PLC-Industry, Duwame Roots Processors, and Dina Foods Limited were part of the exhibition. Other stakeholders, such as DIAJO Brewing (potential sorghum user as malt and adjunct) and Melkassa Agricultural Research Center (MARC), as the National Sorghum Research and Development Coordinator, were part of the event.
